Sometimes looking back can be immensely helpful, especially when it comes to business and, of course ,quarterly performance reviews. This was the case last for us last weekend.
Seated in a large conference room overlooking the calm ocean, the management team on Saturday, the 9th of April presented the quarterly performance and progress of their various business units to the Group’s Chairman, Executive Management, and members of the Board of Directors. These quarterly performance reviews are important to us as a Group because it helps set the cadence for the next quarter and allows us to see whether we are moving the needle in the right direction.
The meeting started off with an overview of the financial position of the Group and explored ways to plug leakages and maximize profits in the future. We were able to highlight each SBU’s accomplishments and their plans and goals for the future. One of the highlights of the event was Tractor on the Go‘s project with USAID with plans to train over 500 men and women on tractor operation techniques in 5 states and communities across Nigeria.
It was truly an interesting interaction, bringing to focus today’s realities in the business world and how we can redefine, re-strategize, and reposition for success. In the next quarter, we expect more dogged moves by the various subsidiaries in bringing their goals and plans to fruition.
As Calvin Coolidge, the 30th U.S President well said, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On!’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
